A driver is tricked into stopping at the side of the road whereupon he is knocked out & his load of expensive cameras are stolen. Haskins knows its the Smith brothers behind it. The scene cuts to Mr. Wardle handing over a briefcase to Barry Smith in a car park. Haskins decides the only way to get the Smiths is to mount a 24 hour surveillance which Jack disagrees with. At a horse race Barry leaves for the car park with George following. Hes there for another collection. He goes to the South Star Country Club to meet his brothers. George tries to get in but he isnt a member. John Smith meets Stella, Wardles girl and tells her to look after him and not bleed him dry. At his next collection from the car park Regan follows. Realising this he tries to give them the slip. Turning onto a country road he has a blow out and rolls his Jaguar. £10,000 is found in a briefcase. Regan visits Charley & John at their scrap yard. Wardle drives up but realises something is wrong and carries on. Regan decides its time to pay the car park a visit. Once inside he recognises Wardle from the scrap yard and when he tells him hes the chief cashier he puts two and two together. Back at the race track Wardle is seen handing over another briefcase. Later in the bar John Smith clocks George and realises the police are on to them. A bigger problem is Jacko, the ticket collector, is losing his bottle and has an altercation with Charley Smith. Wardle drops Jacko off who heads for his houseboat where Charley appears. They embark on a trip up the river when Charley stabs Jacko and throws his body into the river. Jack and George go to Wardles house in Pinner and at the bottom of the garden they find hundreds of partially burnt car park tickets. It transpired that they were forging tickets with a lower charge than that taken and pocketing the difference. Charley rings Wardle at Stellas flat and tells him hes being watched and to hurry to the scrap yard under the pretext of slipping out of the country. Wardle doesnt believe Charley and as there isnt a back way out of Stellas flat he must find a way to get past George waiting in a car outside. Stella dresses him up in drag and he walks straight past George. Wardle makes his way home to be met by Jack and George who find his appearance somewhat amusing. The police converge on the scrap yard to be met by Charley firing at them. In the ensuing chase across the tops of cars, Charley slips and is crushed by a falling car. |
