When they hear the explosion they speed off to arrest them. After a shoot out one is shot, one lies dead after falling out of the car in which he was trying to escape, 3 escape in a car one escapes with the money.

Later that night the squad are at a stag night in a club owned by Arnold Drake, one of the men who escaped, where George pulls a croupier by the name of Shirley Glass. When George wakes up, late for work, the next morning he finds that he has promised to find her husband, Eddie, who disappeared a year earlier. She shows him a cutting from a newspaper of a picture of a quarry with the words "RIP Eddie Glass" in ink. Shirley thinks it's a picture of where Eddie is buried.

Next day at the factory he shows Jack the picture but is told to forget it. George does some snooping on the firms time by going to see Ernie Millan at his garage and asks him to see what he can find out about Eddie and the last job he did. George them tells Haskins what he knows and asks if he can interview Jamie Murdoch in the scrubs. Haskins refuses. Haskins asks Jack to interview Murdock in the Scrubs as George is emotionally involved but he tells him nothing.

George doesn't think Eddie's dead but that after escaping with all the money the rest of the gang are after him and has gone to ground. Haskins decides that there's not enough evidence to re-open the case and orders him to take a weeks holiday.

Meanwhile, whilst playing in a quarry some children unearth a body which after checking the dental records turns out to be Eddie Glass. Jack thinks it best that George isn't told as it might ruin their plans to catch the rest of the gang. Back at the club, Drake and his men are planning to dispose of Shirley and George because they know too much.

Jack returns to the scrubs to interview Murdoch again. This time he says that if he doesn't give them a name he'll make sure he gets another 25 years for conspiracy to murder. He's given the name of Gus Killick.

Zak Franklyn, another of Drakes men and fellow blaggers, is given the task of setting Shirley up as it was he who had sent the newspaper cutting. He gives her a map showing the quarry knowing she and George will go there. Jack decides to let George in on it but when he calls round for him he's already on his way to the quarry.

On arriving they are met by gunfire and captured. Drake takes them to where Eddie was buried before he kilts

them and is so surprised to find an empty grave that George gives him the slip and he and Shirley escape. Killick now arrives on the scene but unbeknown to him the squad had been watching the club and had followed him to the quarry.

After a hefty exchange of gunfire Drake is arrested, Killick is wounded and Zak is dead. Shirley believes that George had set her up from the beginning and used her to capture the gang. He tries to tell he the truth but she walks off saying she never wants to see him again. After an exchange of words between both Regan and Haskins, George reluctantly accepts a lift back to the factory.
