Tong Grey visits his old boss Dennis Longfield after being released from prison for killing a woman on a Zebra Crossing whilst under the influence. He wants his old job back as it was he who set up the computer system which runs the security system. Longfield refuses as he can't have anyone working for him who has a criminal record. Grey leaves but not before wrecking the place.

Jack and George are staking out a crook called Burnham when they see Grey enter. Grey offers to give him confidential information from the computer at Longfields. They take photos of him as he leaves so they can check if he has a criminal record.

Haskins gets a docket from the CRO on Grey and when he hears that Gray caused a disturbance at Longfields and that he'd been to see Burnham he tells Jack to look in to it.

Jack visits Longfield whilst George visits Caroline, Greg's girlfriend. Jack then recruits Dr. Jenny Smart to help them on the technical side of the case.

Burnham sets Grey up in a hotel using a conference as a cover. Later that night he explains that he is going to get into Longfield's computer and find out the route that a gold shipment will take and change it at the last moment to take it to a place where they can rip it off. He asks for a radio transmitter and an Ex Marine soldier.

Jack asks Jenny to attend the hotel undercover as a prospective candidate for the conference to see if she can find anything out. Jack and George also attend the hotel but George is spotted by Caroline who tells Grey that the police are there.

Later than night Grey meets up with the soldier and they scale the side of Longfield's buildings with ropes so as to install the transmitter. Grey leaves first but when the Marine leaves he is confronted by a security guard whom he has to deal with.

Grey has been getting his friend, Steve, to dress up as him to annoy Longfield, bg threatening him with a pistol which turned out to be a water pistol and leaving an alarm clock in his car looking like a bomb, and to give him an alibi when he needs one.

After the latest incident Jack and George go to see Longfield and sag it couldn't be Grey as he just left him at the hotel. Whilst they are there the security guard is found unconscious. When he returns to the hotel to confront Grey,

Caroline lies and says he's been there all night. The next morning Jack and George return to Longfields and find the transmitter on the roof. Longfield says that his computer has been wiped clean and Jack asks him for details of any transactions he has planned for that day.

Now that Grey has finished his job he and Caroline leave the hotel dressed as air crew with the £50,000. Steve is downstairs dressed as Grey and is duly arrested in the foyer.

Jack and George manage to intercept the security van and masquerading as guards they follow the new route followed by the rest of the squad and when confronted by the villains they are eventually arrested.

Steve, thought to be Grey is charges with a breech of the peace and released on bail to appear at court the next day. Barnham slips up and is found to have a copy of the route in his briefcase.

Jack and George go to the local nick to collect Grey but they find to their dismay not only that he has been released but that is wasn't Grey and that neither of them would ever be seen again.
