It's early morning and the milkman is delivering his round. A doctor brings some cases out to his car. A car pulls up in front and another draws up behind. Two masked men jump out and attempt to snatch the bags. The milkman joins in the scuffle and Dr. Delacroix runs into a car park where the bags are taken and thrown into a waiting car below. When The Sweeney arrive the driver of one of the cars, James Knox, is captured. Jack goes to interview Dr. Delacroix hoping to get the cases back but the doctor doesn't want them back as they contained money from illegal abortions which he was on his way to Switzerland with. Back at the factory George is getting nothing out of Knox. Jack arrives back and is told there's a Christobel Delgardo waiting to see him. She says that Knox is her boyfriend and he had no real part in the blag other than a driver. Braithwaite tells Jack to go an Irish pub in Kilburn to try and get some information for the bomb squad on the IRA George goes to Camden Hill nick where Knox is being kept. The DCS of Camden Hill tells George that if Knox isn't charged by Regan within the hour he will let him go. Jellyneck has to fetch Jack from the pub. Knox still won't say anything so Jack has Christobel brought to the nick. She persuades him to name the other ??? that escaped. Jack goes to arrest Eddie Hibberd and George picks up Pat Tyler but he is armed and shooting. In his attempt to escape he is knocked over by a van and dies in the ambulance. George is checking the eyewitness statements again and reckons there was another vehicle involved. As they're about to leave, Jellyneck tells them that a sports car has been found abandoned with the empty cases in the boot plenty of fingerprints. Jack goes to visit Christobel at her hotel and stalls the night. The next morning he finds a photograph of her in the bin and keeps it. In Braithwaite's office Jack thinks that Hibberd and Tyler were set up by Christobel so that she could keep the money. Jack rings Christobel at the hotel but she has checked out. He then tells Braithwaite to put a call through to Special Branch to stop her leaving the country. They then pay Delacroix a visit. They ask him if he knows Christobel Delgardo but he's never heard of the name. When Jack shows him the photograph he sags her name is Christine Dalton who worked for him as a matron when he first started but he had fired her three years earlier when a discrepancy in the books was noticed. Christine has been detained at the Trans World Airport so Jack and George head there and ask to see in her luggage. £85,320 was found. Copyright © 1998-2005 J D Hunter. All rights reserved.
