Two men having collected some gems from a jewelers in Hatton Garden enter their car when a man taps on the window. He shows them a warrant card and they therefore believe he is a policeman. He tells them that they are about to be robbed and they need to catch the villains in the act and asks them to carry on as if nothing had happened and they would follow closely behind. He asks for the jewels and gives them a receipt.

James Fleet, the man behind the con is now being transferred from Parkhurst to spend the night at Wormwood Scrubs.

Haskins tells George that he is to spend the night undercover in a cell with Fleet in the Scrubbs. George is not exactly happy with the idea especially when Haskins tells him that of everybody on the squad George is the one most likely to pass as a villain.

Fleet tells George nothing that night but they arrange to meet if they both get off. They meet in a pub where Fleet introduces George to a Stephen Taylor who thinks there's something fishy about Charlie Mason, George's cover name.

Fleet's girlfriend Tina has to leave to visit a client. ! As they leave the club they are set upon by some heavies of Patsy Kearney who wants the gems for himself. They are both bundled in to a car and taken to an underground room where they torture Fleet who passes out. One of the gang recognises George but cannot place him.

Jack follows Stephen Taylor, one of Fleet's friends, who had been got at by Kearney and forced to tell him about the gems. In an attempt to get out of their situation George tells Kearney that Fleet told him where they were but he doesn't believe him and when he threatens to kill George, Fleet tells him. At that moment they are disturbed by Jack and them make a run for it and escape.

Kearney and his heavies go to Tina's flat and proceed to break down the door in an attempt to find her or the gems.

George and Fleet also hurry to her flat but find it wrecked. Fleet is sure that they have kidnapped her, George rings Jack and tells him to get some of the squad and head for Kearney's place as Fleet is going to get a gun and have a showdown with Kearney.

When they arrive the Sweeney are no where to be seen. Fleet bursts in on Kearney and confronts him with the gun.

Phil now recognises George as a copper and makes a run for it only to be caught by George.

Jack arrives and George throw's Fleet's gun away so that he can't be charged with any offence. Meanwhile, Tina has fenced the gems and is on her way to Amsterdam leaving Fleet high and dry.
