I have just registered www.thesweeney.tv

- MAJOR
update of site. ALL episode synopses ? now have the
actors & characters names appearing. I have identified
about 20 episodes which need writing up. To make this
easy on my poor fingertips, I have ordered the Dragon Dictate
upgrade for Wordperfect suite * so I can merely dictate the
text onto the screen.
- The
CARS section is also underway.
- If
you can help with the FAMOUS PEOPLE section, by identifying
what other programme people have appeared in whether I have
identified them as being 'famous' or not, will earn you a
mention on the site.

- I
will be spending a bit more time on this site, hopefully.
I've found some books & magazines & pictures to add.

I
started to do a bit of work on the site, egged on by the above
mentioned note & the enjoyable time I spent on the CHAT session
after the episode ended, & was dismayed that I had done so
little to it since I uploaded it. I had forgotten that
some of the pages didn't have anything on them ! Sorry !!!!! |

TAKEN FROM
A RECENT MAILING TO MYSELF
Hello Governors
and Governesses,
For those of you who have been on thesweeney.com's mailing list for a
while - hello again - I hope you've all been keeping well - It's been
quite a while since we've been in touch. For those of you who haven't
had one of these before, basically this is an 'alert list' which will
occasionally keep you informed about all things Sweeney, and new developments
on www.thesweeney.com
LATIN LADY
First up - the episode 'Latin Lady' is being shown tonight, 3rd Dec. '98,
on Channel 5 at 8pm. It's the 12th episode of the 4th series (i.e.
quite near the end). It starts with a traditional Sweeney opener
- hooded gunmen jumping out of a Mercedes on a blag. No guest stars
of any great fame in this ep as far as I can see, though look out for
the Latin Lady of the title, who on a less PC mailing list than this would
be described as a *cracking* bird, and is a gangster's moll who inevitably
has her particulars taken down by Regan...
The next Sweeney's are on Monday the 28th and Tuesday 29th December, both
at 8pm again: 'Hearts and Minds' and 'Jack or Knave' respectively.
Quite a nice piece of scheduling, what with people dealing with post-Xmas
blues etc. Incidentally, we haven't had an online chat for many months
now, so if any of you are interested, let me know and we'll schedule one
for one of those evenings at the end of the month...
CHANNEL 5
Lots of people have been asking me what's going on with The Sweeney re-runs.
Basically C5 bought a job lot (about 20 eps out of a total of 50 odd)
and have now shown all of them apart from the above 3.
It remains to be seen if they'll buy any more - they're quite expensive
(my snout tells me that Thaw and Waterman get to trouser a fair bit of
bread every time they're reshown), and I guess C5 are still making up
their minds. It's all dependent on viewing figures, so make sure
you watch, and tell your friends...
XMAS VIDEO SPECIAL OFFER
After the great success of last year's Xmas Video offer we are doing
it all again. It's a bit more fun though because there are are
5 tapes out there now, containing a total of 9 episodes. New episodes
available on video include the classic 'Abduction', when Regan's daughter
is kidnapped, and 'Tomorrow Man', which features John Hurt and George
Cole. We've teamed up with the online store IMVS.com to offer an
exclusive discounted deal which offers 20% off - around £7.35 each plus
VAT and p&p. If you slip them an extra sov, they'll even gift
wrap them for you, using your choice of 4 tasteful designs... You
can look at a Real Video preview of all the episodes on the page.
This deal is ONLY available by clicking/cut and pasting the link below:
http://www.thesweeney.com/newvideos.htm
Please note that the discount offer CAN'T be accessed via thesweeney.com
or IMVS.com directly. Just think - you'll be able to sort
out your old man's Christmas present without even having to get out of
bed! You know Jack would approve... Pre-Christmas delivery
is guaranteed as long as you order now, though the offer is available
until the end of the month.
Unfortunately this is a UK only deal. However, if you ARE outside
the UK and are interested in Sweeney tapes, let me know by replying to
this email and if demand is significant we'll look at ways of fulfilling
this.
I have had
an interest in The Sweeney for many years now. In fact, in 1987
I attempted to write a book on the subject but Thames were not interested
in helping me. Please bear in mind that :
1) this site
is under construction,
2) Much of
the episode review text was written 11 years ago on a Macintosh &
could probably do with being run through with a thesaurus.
3) it is
in no way affiliated nor intends to poach viewers from the official Sweeney
site which can be found at http://www.thesweeney.com.
4) If you
would like your own pages to say what you want about The Sweeney, please
let me know.
