These
new pictures were taken with a video camera so the quality is not up
to usual standards.
Waterproof
covers over door entry buttons
Strengthened
Anti Roll Bar Mounts
These
3 holes are drilled in each side of the boot floor when the 'double
bubble' door seals are fitted
Under
view of sump
Later
cars have one large drain plug on the side of the sump where it is
protected from danger. The strengthening brace is now also integral
with the sump.
The
first headlamp bezels were a bulbous plastic moulded affair. When
TVR started making them for themselves out of glass fibre they lost
their bulbousness & were glued on with the same adhesive used to
bond the windscreen in. However, if a repair was required it was
impossible to remove it without damage. The later bezels are
fitted with 4 nuts onto studs bonded into the bezel its self.
Heated
rear window & air-con switch now have a white printed legend on
them.
Screen vents have increased in diameter from 8 mm to x mm
There is a modification on the way for the crank pulley.
The original system used a courtesy light switch from the VW
range.
The modified door pin switch is now a magnetic proximity device
with a magnet bonded into the cill.
There is a retro fit kit available from your dealers.
Note
the lack of the cubby hole
The
top inner screen rail now has the interior light on the horizontal plane
rather than vertical and is a little less deep, meaning that the view
out of the windscreen is a little less letter box sized.
The door
seals are now deeper around where the window closes. They are
about to make the rest of the seal into a figure 8 section rather
than an O section.
What
Peter was saying to me at Croft has finally happened. The centre
'penny' air vents have now gone. There is an additional eyeball
vent in the drivers footwell and both that & the centre face level
vent only supply cold air. Hot air is now only available from
the screen holes & the transmission tunnel 'pennies'.
Boot
light switch on offside.
Now
near petrol filler cap.
Air
con pipes from compressor often fractured due to vibration.
Certainly
> VIN 1777 the pipes have a piece of aluminium welded between the
two pipes.
Air
conditioning flaps were solenoid controlled. A much better idea in my
mind which is why I got hold of some to retro fit to mine.
Now
aluminium discs on a piece of piano hinge.
Door
release, central locking and window buttons did not have LED warnings
to indicate their position.
They
do now. You can convert the door & central lock buttons yourself.
The buttons are RS part no. 184 - 9165. Remember to use a 680 ohm resistor
to drop the voltage to a safe level for the LED.
A-post
covers and rear window hold-in strip were made from plain
They
are now made from carbon fibre. They are a bugger to get off. I know,
I've seen it but it is possible to retro fit. I had the A post covers
upgraded at the factory before I took delivery but my rear window strip
is still plain black Fibreglass.
Front
hub carriers were machined alloy and had separate bolt on caliper mounting
brackets.
Later
cars now use a cast upright with an integral bracket.
Early
cars had an extra centre silencer.
Long
since removed along with a rubber bobbin which held it to the skid plate.
Early
cars had a propshaft with rubber bushings but the torque proved too
much and they began to rip.
Fan
& fog lamp buttons were plain.
They
now have legends printed on.
The
air conditioning condenser was riveted to the radiator which meant that
if the core needed replacing, as I found out, the air-con needs to be
bled and re-filled which costs about £135.
Later
cars ( certainly > 1229 ) the condenser is bolted to the body.
Chassis
numbers were stamped on the front cross member
The
can now be found inside the offside front wishbone mount
Miscellaneous
notes I haven't found a category for yet
Post
Jan 97 vehicles have Mk II windscreens - More return to A posts
Rubber
finisher at the top too. Rear screen also has a rubber finisher at the
top & sides.
The
later car the better, as TVR are on Cerbera v1.09 at the moment apparently.
Can
anyone confirm this?
Want
to change the wheels ? PCD is 114.3mm. Offset or ET is 35mm.
Centre
bore diameter is 71.5mm.
The
chassis are now coated with a white powder finish not silver
Early
1997
Speedometers
now read upto 210 mph plus a notch, which would be 220. Also 360 km/h
marked on the inside scale.
Cill
kick plates now a £62 option.
July
1997
Brake
bleed nipples now have rubber covers.
Wheel
nuts are of a different style.
July
1997
Boot
light switch is now on the nearside.
July
1997
Early
cars had a number of body items which were moulded separately and bolted
or glued in place.
These included :
Separate
fibreglass front number plate mounting spar
Separate indicator nacelles
Separate rear bumper overrider
Note the plastic headlamp bezels & the sealing rim around
the lens
These
are now moulded as part of the main body.
TVR
have now started using Bridgestone SO2's with the rears changing to
245/45 x 16".
All
Cerebra's will be fitted with a strengthened steering wheel mounting
boss. It is not being classed as a recall and will probably be done
at the vehicles next service. They need the old ones back at the factory
to modify them and send back out as the modified version.

The
ECU code number is written in black marker pen on the ECU lid. This
can be found behind the passenger toeboard carpet in the footwell.

Stereo
system change from chassis number 1348
The
system does away with the door mounted high frequency units, the rear
midrange units and the large central full range speaker. It will be
replaced with a more conventional four speaker system, with a full range
speaker in each door and in each of the rear panels where the mids are
currently located. The crossover is no longer required. Replacement
panels and wiring looms are available should you wish to retrofit.
