Split wishbone bush

I promised a warts n all, so here is “breakdown” #3. I’ve been honestly recording breakdowns (as defined by the car can’t make it under its own steam to a garage for repair) now for 10 years. So what happened?

While removing a wheel, there was a loud bang, I instinctively thought the jack had slipped, but it didn’t turn out to be that. When lowered back on the ground, you could see the wheel was now toeing in.

I took a photo of both sides and merged them, so you can see the extent of the toe-in on the RH side.

The bush rubber had given way allowing the pin/bolt to move. The fix was of course to replace the bush.

I considered just replacing the failed bush, but then decided seeing as how they are all likely the same age/wear, what I really should do is replace all of them. So off the car went on a flatbed to have all front & rear wishbone bushes and anti-roll bar bushes replaced.

A couple of weeks later and a few £ lighter, and she’s back, and the drive feeling a lot tighter too.
