Winter project: bronze spider wheels

Inspired by Volk Racings TE37 racing bronze wheels, often seen on late 90s Japanese tuner cars..

I fancied a change, so had my spider wheels custom colour powder coated matched in a satin finish.

This colour and a green car.. I like it.

Of course, like all things “simple”, it turned into a project.

  • the silver wheel nuts needed to be swapped out for black – a fairly easy task
  • the silver locking wheel nuts also needed to be black – that was a mission finding those
  • the centre caps were grey/silver, so i had the edges of those painted black
  • and a particular bug-bear of mine, wheel weights. Back when the wheels were silver, I tracked down some matching touch-up paint so I could paint the wheel weights the same colour as the wheel. This may sound a little OCD, but after a while they would go rusty and just look nasty. So as before, I tracked down a colour match for these new wheels. You’ll unlikely see it, but that’s the point.

Bring on summer !
