Last winter, as part of my brake caliper project, I found myself painting the rear disc bells.
It was out of necessity as the new rear discs had silver bells, and new fronts had black bells. So I set about spraying them black.
Over the course of a year, the heat and chemicals from cleaning, stained the black and made it patchy. At the time I simply touched it up some, and vowed to address it come the next opportunity.
So here we are, doing it properly 🙂
My first instinct was to get the bells (the centre part) powder coated, but I recall from the little job I did on my boot lid striker that there is a better way.
So I sent the discs off to a local firm to have them Cerakote’d. If you’re not familiar with Cerakote, it’s like powder-coat except its bullet-proof hard.

very happy with that.
now onto the wheels for part 2…
